Welcome to the South Central Behavioral Health Network

The South Central Behavioral Health Network (SCBHN) is made up of the 39 mental health and substance abuse programs in Region II funded by the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.*

We focus on programs that benefit consumers served by our member agencies. Our Crisis Program answers calls to New Haven and nearby agencies from 5pm to 8am and on weekends. We also provide grants to consumers in our region who apply for funds to do a project that means something important to them.

We employ consumers to serve as peer companions in the emergency departments of both New Haven hospitals and the Acute Services Unit at the Connecticut Mental Health Center as well as at Columbus House, the largest New Haven homeless shelter. We also employ consumers at the Safe Harbor warm line and as first job trainees at the Community Soup Kitchen.

We operate the TAP program which allows homeless people to move into sober houses and provides them with case managers. We house more than 130 people a year.

On this website you will find descriptions of our programs, an application for our consumer grants program and an application for employment in one of our consumer employment programs. Since this website is new for us, we would like receive your comments, criticism and suggestions. Send comments
